Special Presentation of the Gdynia Film School’s films in Los Angeles

Kamil Czudej’s “Nothing Serious”, Aleksandra Szczepaniak’s “Attraction”, Piotr Pluta’s “Such a Perfect Day”, Marcin Niemkiewicz’s “love_proxy”, and Lulu Pomorova’s doc “Olga” will be featured at the special presentation of short films from the Gdynia Film School in the program of 26th edition of the Los Angeles Polish Film Festival. The festival’s screenings will take place in the Laemmle Town Center between November 20th – 23rd. Two GSF’s films: “Nothing Serious” by Kamil Czudej and “Attraction” by Aleksandra Szczepaniak have been also Nominated for the festival’s Hollywood Eagle Award in the short film category.

Awarded earlier in Poland, Czechia, and Germany, and shown in South Korea and the US, “Nothing Serious” by Kamil Czudej, observes how not-that-great a party, accidentally turns into something that might change the character’s life.

“Attraction” by Aleksandra Szczepaniak focuses on a few, sunny vacation days of the adolescent siblings. The film got awarded with the Jury Mention at the 49th Gdynia FF in Poland, the Honorary Mention in the NY Cinematography Awards competition 2025, and the Best Cinematography Prize at the Two Riversides FF in Poland.

Awarded recently in the San Francisco Sci-Fi Film & TV Competition, and earlier in Berlin and Sopot, and presented in Miami, Brussels, Lyon, Oslo, NY, Mumbai, and Seattle – “love_proxy” by Marcin Niemkiewicz – with use of animation and live-action follows a love story in a world, in which a man, thanks to the brand-new invention of a robot doppelganger, can function in many different places at the same time.

Shown at the prestigious Polish festivals in Gdynia, Łódź, Łagów, and Sopot, as well as in Busan and Mumbai, “Such a Perfect Day” by Piotr Pluta presents far reaching psychological and social consequences of a hazard addiction.

Presented at many film festivals in Poland (New Horizons FF, etc.), and recently awarded at the Spectrum FF, a documentary debut film of the director of “Everything for My Friend” – Lulu Pomorova – “Olga” focuses on struggles for working rights of the sexual workers in Poland.

  • Mikołaj Janik’s “Mom Is Going Back” got two awards at the 23rd Uhvati Film Festival: Grand Prix at the Novi Sad edition, and Second Prize for Documentary Film in Rijeka, Croatia. Organized in the region of Southern Europe (Novi Sad in Serbia, Rijeka in Croatia, and Kotor in Montenegro) in October and November, the festival features fiction and documentary films presenting themes of disability.
