House of Sand

A bittersweet documentary comedy. A father and a son build an experimental house on the edge of the world. Turns out it’s a journey which takes them to places they only dreamed of.
2022 |

A 65 year old-construction worker Maciej and his son Szymon decided to build their future home.

Surrounded by beautiful nature they construct an Earthship – an experimental, self sufficient, planet friendly house made of upcycled old tires, cans and bottles. The process takes time, hard work and money which both men are short of. However they learn to own less and live happier. What seems to be a hippie holiday turns out to be a practical lesson of engineering, earthworks and carpentry. It’s also another chapter of the father and son relationship.
