“Jaffa Cakes” and “Resurrection” in the Aldina Competition of the Amarcort Film Festival in Italy
“Jaffa Cakes” by Bartek Izdebski and “Resurrection” by Luiza Budejko will be presented in the Aldina Competition of the forthcoming 16th edition of the Amarcort Film Festival to take place in Rimini, Federico Fellini’s birthplace, between November 14th – 19th. Both the Gdynia Film School’s films will be shown in the Student Films category among 19 other films from around the world, among others: Australia, Belgium, France, Germany, Israel, Iran, Spain, Switzerland, and USA.
Nominated earlier to the Geneva Awards and NY Indie Shorts Awards, Bartek Izdebski’s ”Jaffa Cakes” presents few last moments spent together by three childhood friends, just before embarking on a long-time journey. Remembrances of a fairy-like, idyllic past mingle with expectations and dreams of a new, different world out there – what will prevail?
Recently awarded at the prestigious 44th Manaki Brothers FF in Macedonia, and earlier in Czechia, India, Portugal, and the US, the ”Resurrection” by Luiza Budejko sketches a portrait of a family dealing with the death of small Marcel. 10-year-old Magda, Marcel’s sister, feels a need to help their parents overcome the tragedy and to do something that will let them all return to their life as it was before.
