“The Mandala” and “Mom Is Coming Back” at the Washington Polish Film Festival

Mikołaj Janik’s “The Mandala” and “Mom Is Coming Back” will be presented in the short films competition of the Washington Polish Film Festival. Organized by the Kosciuszko Foundation festival will be held between May 10th – 12th and will screen the selection of the brand new Polish films, including seven features and eight shorts.

“The Mandala” by Mikołaj Janik – a short fiction – in a thriller convention tells a story of a mother and son struggling with a loss.

Mikołaj Janik’s diploma documentary short – “Mom Is Coming Back” – presents an intimate portrait of Weronika and her daughter, diagnosed with cerebral palsy. Weronika, who used to bake sausages over an Icelandic volcano, kayaked through Costa Rican rivers, and guided tourists around the ruins of ancient kingdoms, now leads a very different life, in which she is telling her daughter stories about the world around them.

  • “Saudade” in the Short Films Program of the Lublin Film Festival

  • “Saudade” by Wojciech Pokorski will be a part of the Short Film program of the approaching Lublin Film Festival to take place between November 22nd – 30th. The festival will present 8 feature and 137 short films from around the world, which will be evaluated by the Jury composed of Joanna Kos-Krauze, Mateusz Demski, and Adrian Apanel.
