Three GSF’s films: “The Mandala” by Mikołaj Janik, “Saudade” by Wojciech Pokorski, and “Transgression” by Diana Szczotka will take part in the Short Films Competition of the forthcoming WAMA Film Festival in Olsztyn, Poland. The festival, held between September 17th – 21st, will present 21 Polish shorts along with the 8 features in the International Coproductions Competition.
Awarded for the best cinematography in Koszalin and with the Audience Prize in Sopot, and shown earlier, among others, within the NY New Filmmakers, Friss Huss ISFF in Budapest, Ravenheart FF in Oslo, and Inter-City FF in Busan, “The Mandala” in a thriller convention tells a story of a mother and son struggling with a loss.
Presented earlier in competition of the Wegiel FF in Poland, as well as in Germany, South Korea, and the US, “Saudade” by Wojciech Pokorski in a sensitive and detailed way captures psychology of a child in confrontation with grave illness of the mother.
Awarded earlier at the Porto Femme FF, and recently shown at the Blue Sea FF in Finland, the finalist of this year’s Toronto Women FF, ”Transgression” is a dance club love story, which unexpectedly brings in a confrontation of one’s deepest convictions with overwhelming desires.
