Special Presentation of the Gdynia Film School’s films in Seattle

“Saudade”, “Tacking”, “The Mandala”, “Transgression”, and “Mom Is Going Back” will be featured at the special presentation of the short films from the Gdynia Film School the forthcoming 32nd Seattle Polish Film Festival held between November 8th – 10th. The screenings will take place at the Egyptian theater.

Presented earlier at the Polish film festivals like Wegiel FF and WAMA, as well as in Germany, South Korea, Spain, and the US, the “Saudade” by Wojciech Pokorski in a sensitive and detailed way captures psychology of a child in confrontation with grave illness of the mother.

Shown among others in India, Mexico, and Spain, the recipient of the Jury Special Mention at the 30th Blue Sea IFF in Finland, the “Tacking” – a diploma film by Jakub Laskowski – is a surrealist account of a psychological process of coming to terms with the death of a father.

“The Mandala” by Mikołaj Janik in a thriller convention tells a story of a mother and son struggling with a loss. The film has been earlier awarded at the Polish prestigious festivals in Koszalin for the best cinematography and with the Audience Prize in Sopot, and has been also presented within the NY New Filmmakers, Friss Huss ISFF in Budapest, the Ravenheart FF in Oslo, the Busan Inter-City FF, and Seoul International Short Film Festival.

Recently awarded in Ukraine and presented earlier, among others, in Thessaloniki and Washington, “Mom Is Going Back” – a documentary short – tries to answer questions like whether it is possible to journey in place, and if one can replace the Himalayan amplitude with the Beskidian hills. Ever since Weronika was born – suffering from cerebral palsy, her mother Weronika struggles with these questions attempting to continue her previous passions in a new life with her daughter.

  • “Nothing Serious” Wins in Competition of the 51st Mlada kamera IFF in Czechia

  • Kamil Czudej’s “Nothing Serious” has been awarded with the Best Film Prize in Competition of the 51st Mlada kamera International Film Festival that took place in Unicov, Czechia, between March 21st-22nd. Featuring the films directed by young directors, the festival screened 45 fiction, documentary, and animation films, directed by directors of up to 30 years old.
