”The Mandala” and “Saudade” in the program of the Kolkata Int Children Film Festival 2025

Mikołaj Janik ‘s ”The Mandala” and Wojciech Pokorski’s “Saudade” will be presented in the programme of the forthcoming 11th edition of the Kolkata International Children Film Festival. Organized in the Kolkata’s film center – the Nandan – the festival will take place between January 22nd – 28th, and will present the films in 9 theaters across the city.

Awarded in 2024 at the prestigious film festivals in Poland (the Best Cinematography Prize in Koszalin and the Audience Prize in Sopot), and recently at the Rome Short Film Fest, as well as presented, among others, in Budapest, Busan, NY, and Oslo, “The Mandala” in a thriller convention tells a story of a mother and son struggling with a loss.

Nominated for the Grand OFF Prize for the Best Independent Polish Film as well as for the Jan Machulski’s Awards for the best Polish short film in multiple categories, presented earlier at festivals in Poland, Germany, South Korea, Spain, and the US, the “Saudade” by Wojciech Pokorski in a sensitive and detailed way captures psychology of a child in confrontation with grave illness of the mother.

  • “The Mandala” Awarded at the Roma Short Film Fest in Rome

  • Mikołaj Janik’s “The Mandala” has been awarded with the Best Horror Prize of the Roma Short Film Fest in Rome, which ended on December 7th. The festival presented “The Mandala” among the several international competition films, produced among others in Canada, China, Ireland, Italy, South Korea, Switzerland, United Kingdom, and the US.
