Examination Board has already annouced the list of persons that have qualified to the first year of learning at Gdynia Film School.

First students of GFS

The three-stages entry exams ended with an interview. 19 candidates were qualified to interiews as a result of the written exam and practical tasks for 2 days were answering questions of Examination Board members: Mirosław Bork, Sławomir Fabicki, Robert Gliński, Andrzej J. Jaroszewicz (PSC), Grzegorz Łoszewski, Paweł Łoziński, Sławomir Pultyn, Jurek Rados and Andrzej Titkow.

The new students of GFS are people of different age and with different professional background. There are two grauates of the Pomeranian Film Workshops among the admitted.

6 persons come from Tricity. The others will come to school from Warszawa, Łomża, the vicinity of Lublin, Białystok and Bucuresti (Romania). Thanks to the hospitality of the City of Gdynia and the academies, students from distant cities will be lodged in two halls of residence: Polish Naval Academy and Gdynia Maritime University.

On 1 October inauguration of academic year will take place which means for all 12 pupils and nearly 20 lecturers the beginning of 2 years of intensive work on broadening knowledge on film and film making. A kind of foretaste of learning at GFS students will already get during holidays as lecturers has prepared a special summer homework.

Students will graduate GFS with wide portfolios (each will make two shorts: feature and documentary) and with strong practical skills.

  • “Nothing Serious” Awarded Grand Prix of the 17th Solanin Film Festival in Poland

  • Kamil Czudej’s “Nothing Serious” got Grand Prix and the Youth Jury Prize of the 17th Solanin Film Festival held in Nowa Sól, Poland, between August 20th – 24th. The Jury awarded the film for: “a good, true story, perfect acting, and deep emotions expressed in extraordinary language. The astute title suggests serious topic, and realization was made in a spirit of the best traditions of the Polish Film School”.
