”Jaffa Cakes” and “Resurrection” in Semi-Final of the New York Indie Shorts Awards

Bartek Izdebski’s ”Jaffa Cakes” and Luiza Budejko’s “Resurrection” have reached the Semi Final of the New York Indie Shorts Awards and will be presented at the virtual event to take place between June 4th -8th. New York Indie Shorts Awards is among top 30 most popular festivals, and presents the works of talented filmmakers from around the world. Some of its former constantans include Iggy Pop, Pauline Chalamet, Kevin Becon, Jude Law, and Brenda Blethyn.

Nominated earlier to the Geneva Awards, ”Jaffa Cakes” features few last moments spent together by three childhood friends, just before embarking on a long-time journey. Remembrances of a fairy-like, idyllic past mingle with expectations and dreams of a new, different world out there – what will prevail?

Awarded recently with the top prizes at the Female Voices Rock FF in NY, ”Resurrection” by Luiza Budejko sketches a portrait of a family dealing with the death of small Marcel. 10-year-old Magda, Marcel’s sister, feels a need to help their parents overcome the tragedy and to do something that will let them all return to their life as it was before.

  • Mikołaj Janik’s “Mom Is Going Back” got two awards at the 23rd Uhvati Film Festival: Grand Prix at the Novi Sad edition, and Second Prize for Documentary Film in Rijeka, Croatia. The festival held between November 25th – 30th, will show “Nothing Serious” in the Student Films category, while “Such a Perfect Day” – in the Titta category dedicated to films on parent-child relationship.
