”Saudade”, ”Resurrection” and “Sabina” at the 21st Węgiel Film Festival in Katowice, Poland

Wojciech Pokorski’s ”Saudade” will have its premiere presentation at the forthcoming 21st edition of the Węgiel Film Festival. The festival will open with Robert Gliński’s master-class, followed by the seminar with Kamil Przełęcki, and the special screening of the two Gdynia Film School’s films at the market: ”Resurrection” by Luiza Budejko and ”Sabina” by Diana Zamojska.

”Saudade”, ”Resurrection” and “Sabina” at the 21st Węgiel Film Festival in Katowice, Poland

Presented in the festival’s competition, “Saudade” by Wojciech Pokorski in a sensitive and detailed way captures psychology of a child in confrontation with grave illness of the mother.

Luiza Budejko’s “Resurrection”, which received 15 national and international awards at the film festivals, from NY to Mumbai, sketches a portrait of a family dealing with the death of small Marcel. 10-year-old Magda, Marcel’s sister, feels a need to help their parents overcome the tragedy and to do something that will let them all return to their life as it was before.

Awarded at the Toronto Women FF and presented widely around the world, from LA to Busan, ”Sabina” – the diploma film of Diana Zamojska – features a meeting of 50-year-old Sabina with a young blue-haired girl full of life and troubles. The encounter brings about unexpected consequences for both of them.

Węgiel FF will take place in Katowice (Poland) between April 24th – 27th, and will feature 23 international school films in several competitive sections.

  • Marcin Niemkiewicz’s “love_proxy”, Aleksandra Szczepaniak’s “Attraction”, and Diana Szczotka’s “Haven” are among the films presented in the September edition of the NY New Filmmakers Plus Program, to take place between September 1st -30th. The program, organized by the Anthology Film Archives in New York features the films by young filmmakers from China, Iran, Korea, Poland, UK, and USA.

  • “Nothing Serious” Awarded Grand Prix of the 17th Solanin Film Festival in Poland

  • Kamil Czudej’s “Nothing Serious” got Grand Prix and the Youth Jury Prize of the 17th Solanin Film Festival held in Nowa Sól, Poland, between August 20th – 24th. The Jury awarded the film for: “a good, true story, perfect acting, and deep emotions expressed in extraordinary language. The astute title suggests serious topic, and realization was made in a spirit of the best traditions of the Polish Film School”.
