”The Mandala”, “Saudade”, and “Transgression” in Short Films Competition of the WAMA Film Festival in Poland

Three GSF’s films: “The Mandala” by Mikołaj Janik, “Saudade” by Wojciech Pokorski, and “Transgression” by Diana Szczotka will take part in the Short Films Competition of the forthcoming WAMA Film Festival in Olsztyn, Poland. The festival, held between September 17th – 21st, will present 21 Polish shorts along with the 8 features in the International Coproductions Competition.

Awarded for the best cinematography in Koszalin and with the Audience Prize in Sopot, and shown earlier, among others, within the NY New Filmmakers, Friss Huss ISFF in Budapest, Ravenheart FF in Oslo, and Inter-City FF in Busan, “The Mandala” in a thriller convention tells a story of a mother and son struggling with a loss.

Presented earlier in competition of the Wegiel FF in Poland, as well as in Germany, South Korea, and the US, “Saudade” by Wojciech Pokorski in a sensitive and detailed way captures psychology of a child in confrontation with grave illness of the mother.

Awarded earlier at the Porto Femme FF, and recently shown at the Blue Sea FF in Finland, the finalist of this year’s Toronto Women FF, ”Transgression” is a dance club love story, which unexpectedly brings in a confrontation of one’s deepest convictions with overwhelming desires.

  • Mikołaj Janik’s “Mom Is Going Back” got two awards at the 23rd Uhvati Film Festival: Grand Prix at the Novi Sad edition, and Second Prize for Documentary Film in Rijeka, Croatia. Organized in the region of Southern Europe (Novi Sad in Serbia, Rijeka in Croatia, and Kotor in Montenegro) in October and November, the festival features fiction and documentary films presenting themes of disability.

  • “Nothing Serious” and “Such a Perfect Day” in Competition of the 18th Amarcort Film Festival in Italy!

  • “Nothing Serious” by Kamil Czudej and “Such a Perfect Day” by Piotr Pluta will be presented in various competitive sections of the forthcoming 18th Amarcort Film Festival in Rimini, Federico Fellini’s birthplace. The festival held between November 25th – 30th, will show “Nothing Serious” in the Student Films category, while “Such a Perfect Day” – in the Titta category dedicated to films on parent-child relationship.
