Gdynia Film School’s Films at the Short Film Market accompanying the 47th Clermont-Ferrand International Short Film Festival

Five brand-new Gdynia Film School’s short films are to be presented in a framework of the forthcoming Clermont-Ferrand ISFF Short Film Market to take place between Jan. 31st – Feb. 8th. Fiction films: “Nothing Serious” by Kamil Czudej, “Attraction” by Aleksandra Szczepaniak, “Such a Perfect Day” by Piotr Pluta as well as documentaries: “Haven” by Diana Szczotka and “Olga” by Lulu Pomorova will be available for previewing in the Short Film Market’s video library for over 3000 participants from all over the world.

Awarded earlier at the 49th Gdynia Polish FF, “Nothing Serious” by Kamil Czudej observes how not-that-great a party, accidentally turns into something that might change the character’s life.

“Attraction” by Aleksandra Szczepaniak, which got Jury Mention at the 49th Gdynia Polish FF, features a few, sunny vacation days of the adolescent siblings.

Presented in competition of the 49th Gdynia Polish FF and of the film critics festival “Camera Action” in Łódź, “Such a Perfect Day” by Piotr Pluta shows far reaching psychological and social consequences of a gambling addiction.

Premiered in the Documentary Competition of the OFF – Odense FF 2024, “Haven” by Diana Szczotka presents a portrait of Ukrainian refugees, staying in the temporary accommodation center in Gdynia in the first days after the Russian invasion in early 2022.

A just-finished documentary by Lulu Pomorova (“Everything for My Friend”) – “Olga” – is a brave and determined insight into a problem of the sexual workers’ human rights.

  • Marcin Niemkiewicz’s “love_proxy”, Aleksandra Szczepaniak’s “Attraction”, and Diana Szczotka’s “Haven” are among the films presented in the September edition of the NY New Filmmakers Plus Program, to take place between September 1st -30th. The program, organized by the Anthology Film Archives in New York features the films by young filmmakers from China, Iran, Korea, Poland, UK, and USA.

  • “Nothing Serious” Awarded Grand Prix of the 17th Solanin Film Festival in Poland

  • Kamil Czudej’s “Nothing Serious” got Grand Prix and the Youth Jury Prize of the 17th Solanin Film Festival held in Nowa Sól, Poland, between August 20th – 24th. The Jury awarded the film for: “a good, true story, perfect acting, and deep emotions expressed in extraordinary language. The astute title suggests serious topic, and realization was made in a spirit of the best traditions of the Polish Film School”.
