RECRUITMENT REQUIREMENTS IN 2020:

The recruitment process to Gdynia Film School lasts until July 10 and consists of three stages:

  • Admission to the entrance exams on the basis of submitted documents and works
  • Entrance exam
  • Interview

 

Conditions for admission to the entrance examination

 

  1. Candidates applying for admission to the first semester should submit the following documents by May 20 (DECISIONS DATE):
  • completed Recruitment Application (downloadable from the school’s website www.gsf.pl);
  • the original or a copy of the secondary school-leaving certificate or university diploma (a possible photocopy of the secondary school-leaving certificate or university diploma should be certified as true copies of the original by a notary or institution issuing the document. Matura certificates or university diplomas issued by foreign institutions should be translated into Polish by a sworn translator);
  • ID photo in an electronic version sent to the address info@gsf.pl;
  • a photocopy of an ID card;
  • a medical certificate confirming that there are no contraindications to the profession of a director – a referral for the examination is issued by the school office (candidates are asked to contact us by e-mail);
  • short film – self-presentation with justification why the candidate would like to become a student of Gdynia Film School; a movie up to 1 minute, made in any technique – sent in the form of an internet link (e.g. on youtube, vimeo) to the e-mail address: info@gsf.pl;
  • a written confirmation of payment of the recruitment fee in the amount of PLN 200 in the form of a transfer to the bank account of the Pomeranian Film Foundation in Gdynia PKOBP BRANCH 17 IN GDYNI 86 1440 1026 0000 0000 1045 6142. Fees can be made until May 20

 

  1. Folder documenting the candidate’s own body of work, including:
  • a short fictional or documentary or animated film (from 1 to 5 minutes), made in any technique – sent in the form of an internet link (e.g. on youtube, vimeo) to the e-mail address: info@gsf.pl
  • original literary works in the form of:

 

  1. an idea for a script for a short fictional film in the format of a short film or treatment (no dialogues!) (maximum 2 A4 pages, 12 Times font, 28 lines per page), in which one of the following issues will be an important element of the story:
  • “Suddenly she stood up, looked at him (her) again and thought death was not the end of life. It’s just the beginning… “
  • “He felt tired and dispirited. But as he was rising from his knees he thought of something most absurd at such a moment, that weakness is the greatest strength after all … “

 

  1. an idea for a script of a short documentary on a given topic “My Love” (maximum 1800 characters with spaces, 1 A4 page);

 

  • Literary works should be signed with author’s first and last names and titled with the chosen topic of the task.
  • two photographic works on given topics:
  1. a) photographic triptych “Tension”
  2. b) photo story [from 5 to 10 photos] “Revenge”

 

Photographic works should be signed with author’s name and surname and titled.

 

All works should fit in an A4 folder.

 

  1. Candidates may attach their own creative works to the portfolio, eg film, literary, photographic, art, music, and artistic achievements.The original works are attached on the author’s own responsibility.

 

FOLDERS SHOULD BE SENT BY MAIL OR COURIER TO THE SCHOOL ADDRESS. THE DATE OF THE POST STAMP DECIDES. DUE TO THE PANDEMIC SITUATION, THE SCHOOL OFFICE IS CLOSED FOR THE APPLICANTS.

 

Entrance examination on July 6-10

 

The entrance examination consists of five tasks:

  1. Script task,
  2. Culture and art knowledge test,
  3. Narrative task – arranging a story based on stills from a feature film,
  4. Practice with an actor – directing a scene on a given topic,
  5. Additional examination task.
  • Special Mention for ”Transgression” at the Porto Femme FF

  • Presented in the Student Films Competition, Diana Szczotka ‘s ”Transgression” got Special Mention at the Porto Femme Film Festival that took place between April 16th-21st. The festival featured numerous films directed by women from around the world in nine thematic sections.
